On the move? Under the weather? Try lessons via Skype!

Students who are feeling under the weather or who are unable to travel to their lesson due to an unforeseen circumstance are now able to take their lesson via Skype!

The option of remote lessons is not just for newcomers, but for all of my students to take advantage of this fantastic technology! When students have questions between lessons, they can show me exactly what they need. When students go on vacation or are under the weather, they can keep up with their musical education to return to my studio without missing a beat.

What are the costs?
The rates for in-person and Skype lessons are the same. Skype is free to download and easy to use. Many newer computers come with a camera and microphone built-in, but if you do need to purchase a webcam, many can be bought for as little as $20. If you are a Mac user like me, iChat comes with a free video chat option.

Can you correct a student over video chat?
I’ve found that nearly all technical issues (particularly tension problems) are visible from a mile away and, in fact, revealed in the sound. Students may have to reposition themselves at times, but this is no different than to an in-person lesson.
